Privileged

You just won’t know how great it is unless you managed to go up yourself to take a look at it. Over the privilege boundary lies an exclusive corner where you get to witness just about the best of Singapore.

Up above anyone else, on the 65th floor. You see what the privileged see. The great sight aside, it is the feeling too. For a while, I am one of the privileged.

It was pretty funny how we(Sheng, Fahizul, Alaric and me) managed to get up to the 65th floor of Swissotel The Stamford yesterday. Those who know probably know that the highest anyone without the proper access card is the 59th story. And there wasn’t any fabulous sight at all here at this level.

You walk out the elevator. Walk around through the circular corridor. No window panels. No shiok view. Only a cleaner’s greet(Heh, though the greet was enough to make me feel rich already though.) That’s exactly how we explore level 59 with a tinge of disappointment.

Sianded, we proceed to the elevator again hoping to get to higher floors. I was thinking if we should take the stairs especially since we can’t go on any higher liao by the elevator. Lucky we didn’t, we took the elevator and already within it is some guy who is probably some company’s high-ranking staff or something. He was heading for level 65. I tried to press level 66 but the light on the floor selector won’t light up(Abit paiseh because at this point of time I still do not know one have to has a access card to slot it in order to access higher floors.. but I pretended it lit up lar haha). So we pretend pretend to go along with the guy. No wonder he looked at us with this bewildered look on his face.

Just about he was getting off to level 65, we tried to make comments to look as if we weren’t free-riding him(though we actually were. lmao).

“Hey he say is at the 66th floor”, one of us said.

LOl, who’s the “he” and what is at 66th floor??

Apparently the rich guy couldn’t care less about us and made his way out when the lift door open. We also exited lar.

Wah, I assure you the feeling was damn song. We walk for a short while before entering a soulless gymnasium. Inside the gymnasium there’s a balcony located just behind a full-length glass slider.

I hesitated to open lar, just in case it triggered some alarm or something then before you know it a few burly-sized security guard trained in the most powerful form of martial arts armed with the ultimate security weapons appear and drag us away by our arm. Alaric was prompting us to open the door especially since we have it hard to reach the particular moment.

“Open it, the best of Singapore. In front. Just open”
My mind urged me to open the door.

Then Alaric, on one side,
“Open lar, just open, open leh.”

Fuck care lar, die also die lar, don’t want to waste the chance. So we open the door and enter the Balcony. Woooooo.. what a sight to behold. Chio!

Woah.

Overlooking the sea.

Up there, although a pity didn’t managed to enjoy the view to the max because the feeling was like, 1/3 trying to take as many pic as possible, 1/3 still song‘ing’ over the fact that we managed to get up there with the last 1/3 scare that the few burly-sized security would really appear. Haha.

Another view.

The amount of things you can cast your sight on is almost ¼ of the whole of Singapore. Maybe lesser lar. But really still a lot. Level 65 leh. Mai siao siao. Well, for those who take flights often probably won’t receive the same amount of impact the view had on me, a virgin on flight. Lol.

Esplanade.

Up there, everything now appeared very minute. The esplanade as big as durians. The cars resembling ants scurrying for food. And the people(I didn’t really even see any people) like sand. Given more time, I would have appreciated the sight even more. But as for now, I will try to take as many good shots as possible for later viewing pleasure.

When you looked down from the balcony, even the strongest heart would experience a shot of fear, a fear of falling down and disintegrate into many pieces upon impacting on the ground. You know, like when you smash a glass sphere onto the ground. Ok, I don’t know whether the human body is that brittle.

Notice the miniature size of things?

Even me, whose legs don’t usually go all wobbly because of height sense the wobbliness in my legs. I shall save on someone’s maluness of having his leg felt like jelly at the moment of time lmao! Kudos to Sheng who claim he felt no fear(which I highly doubted actually lol).

Finally the three of them. With the spectacular backdrop.

There’s no everlasting banquet. A saying in Chinese, how true eh? Just a while more, a lady(probably someone working there) enter the gym, requested us to leave in a very polite manner which is so ironical for me had been thinking about the few burly security guards who would probably had demanded us to leave in the harshest tone.

No, instead a very polite “This is a exclusive area which you should not be here”, “Besides, you all took pictures already” and “Thank you for your understanding.” While the first two sentences might not sound very polite from the way I typed it out here, but it was expressed out in a very pleasing manner by the lady.

Fantastic service. Although I would expect nothing less from someone who’s job include meeting the many distinguished guests who dawn upon Swissotel The Stamford every day from around the world. But to us? A few curious teenagers who free-rided their way up? She still showed such politeness.
Although we had to be “escorted” to the lift and were made sure that we took the lift back to the ground level by the lady in the end, it is still ok lar. We understand, her job mah. One fine day when I make it big, I will thank her personally if I ever have the chance.
65th floor.. Woooo

The long-awaited cousin's dinner finally occurs 2 weeks ago on Sunday. I took very long to come up with this post so well, yea 2 weeks ago lol. But then, not everyone turned up. Four of us went. Ken, Ming, Qiqi and me. Sad huh? We can never had a proper full reunion outing. It has been planned for very long liao leh.

It just happened one fine day in sec3 or 4 when I meet up with my cousins. We then plan an outing/dinner/gathering so as to update with each other or something. Ken, ming and Qi pretty close to me actually so we also know what’s up with them about their recent on-goings. But not the others. Some of my cousins I see like once a year? During Chinese New Year? Where one long-time-no-see cousin will sweep our money away. . Haha. My luck these years S.U.C.K. Totally. Probably should stay away from gambling next year.

Anyway, like I was saying, then the outing just drag on. A year passed. Then a second. Before you know it, it’s ancient already. This outing is like always resting at the back of our mind, then when sometimes we do see each others, the thought would jolt back again. We would then ask each other when’s the outing. Then maybe we will choose some days when we thought we are free. But after that, it is somehow forgotten again, and the idea of the outing slumbers back to sleep. Sleepmode. Occasionally, we would really feel like having the outing planned swee swee and go around asking but the timing is always not right. Always clash with somethings.

Sunny Sunday last week, Kenner suddenly cannot wait anymore. So he asked my through msn in a wtf-wait-so-long-still-not-there tone,

"Hey when is the outing?"

Something like this.

Then we invited a few others(just so happen that quite a number of my cousins were online) into the convo. A few crappings around, some harmless quarrels and someveryfunnywayoftypingwithoutspaces(Sorry, I can’t remember if QIQI typed like this during the convo, but I think of her, I think of this, so I might as well include this lmao). By the end of the convo, we settle for the dinner at that very night. Lightning fast. Something in planning for eons just settled in a 1-hour-convo. Best.

Because of the last-minuteness of this whole outing, cannot quite blame those who cannot make it. One is working when I msged him and he has to work till 10pm. So he’s out. Another have a test on the following day. You see, really always clash with somethings.

Actually we chose between Satay Chooloot or Marina’s Steamboat. You heard it right, the Satay chooloot we all see in Malaysia and almost never in Singapore. But while on the MRT, nearing Cityhall, I think I asked are we all sure where’s the place. This got us panicky. Ok, not exactly panicky, but abit worry lar. I also don’t feel like taking any risk by going to the Satay Chooloot’s place where we thought where it is only to find nothing in the end.(Btw, it is opposite Paradiz Centre. Checked the place a few days ago and now we are sure where is it liao. Plus the price is right and the food seems so too. Probably will try that sometime I hope) Then, only when we have no choice but to go Marina’s Bay, it will be damn sian liao. Besides, while still hesitating whether to go Satay Chooloot, Cityhall is nearing liao. So I suppose that we thought might as well alight here and cross over to Marina’s Bay where the many steamboats places are definitely there. They just don’t disappear overnight yea?

Qiqi. Kenner. Ming.

So add one more Chong Pang experience to my food adventures. It was the first time there with my cousins. Hope with the first time embarked, we will go for even more in the future. The food there this time is a 5.5 out of 10 for me. Slightly wee bit higher than average. Being able to eat what you cook(bbq etc) yourself add to the total points.

Can challenge Sheng's record lar.

Food which I eat without me thinking, “What crap is this?” are usually 4 to 5. 6 is above average. 7 is good food. 8 is delicious. 9 is heavenly. 10 bo wei kong. I don’t think I have come across any food reaching 9 yet. Much less 10. Lol, sounds like a food connoisseur. No lar, just Qing’s own humble opinion nia lar. Of course, I must still persevere on to work hard for big money next time for food!

Moggle.

Fireboy.

The thing with buffet is that if you are a big eater, si bei wu hua one. Though it does not necessarily mean a good thing for the operators lar, see people sit down there for some good hours eating away food almost non-stop. If everyone does that, it will be strange if the place don’t pok. I guess it is lucky not everyone eat like some glutton.

Qiqi.Typinglikethisissodamncool.

For me, I can’t exactly sit down at the buffet place and just chiong the food throughout. I must have a break or something in between. Let my stomach rest awhile. Then it’s food time again! This is where Marina Bay has an advantage. With the recreational activities(arcade, bowling among others) situated swee swee around the vicinity where we had our food, any time we feel like it, we can just make our way down to the arcade or something. Of course, a few must still stay back to look after the things lar. It’s just a break afterall. Not an ending lol. The arcade in Marina’s Bay is kind of underused I will say. A rather big arcade, with machines that is not super-dated. There’s even Drummania, what more can I ask for??

But like I say lar, it seems to be under-used. I mean, it is quite a sad sight if you go in the afternoon. It would usually be very empty. Easy life for the cashiers there arh? Then the bowling also. Few people plays there in the afternoon during weekdays. No wonder it is dirt cheap. $1.50 per game there nia. The equipments and lane there is not really in prime conditions though.

I believe the lack of customer is due largely to the fact that few people go for buffet in the afternoon(which I suppose made up the bulk of the customers. Eh wait, the buffet is not even open for business in the afternoon) plus the fact that the place is rather far. Far as in, you have to go to Marina Bay which is at the end of the orange line(can’t remember what name, but I usually refers to it by the colour.), then you have to take a bus which will then bring you deeper in. Machiam a forest/park with the amount of flora there. Depends on how you look at it, it can actually be a pleasant place especially when it is situated pretty close to the CBD area. A break for the working people perhaps? But I don’t think they have the mood to go for a stroll in the park during break in between their hectic working hours lol. Also, it also make quite a nice place for a family day I must say.

With that, I recommend this location with the steamboat and more to those who have not been there yet. Not bad a place, budget too.

World Cup is over. Hmm, the next one would be 4 years later liao. Abit wasted that the siaos didn’t watch the final together. Buay steady leh they all. Though, it was still an enjoyable experience tonning at Fahizul’s house which saw Zidane headbutting people. Oh not forgetting the day when I went Kenner’s house too to watch the 3rd/4th placing match between Germany and Portuga. But then, I slept just minutes before the match start. And when I woke up, it was already some half-a-day gone lmao.

Yup, went to Kenner house on Saturday night after a afternoon with him and another cousin, Ming. Went to play pool at first. This session was fun. Fun as in, my passion for pool is re-ignited. Really, my hands are so itch for another session of pool. Gonna ask Alaric or my cousins again for another session.

So after pool, we went over to citylink and I bought a new pair of slipper. The one I was wearing is very slippery until it malu-ated me earlier the day when I almost fell while alighting the mrt. I am sure a lot of people see it. Though when I turn around, everyone just pretend pretend. Must be laughing like what in the heart. Now the new slippers super good. Powerful grip even on wet surfaces. Now I can finally walk without looking as though I am skating or what. At night, went over to Kenner’s house to stayover for the world cup match. But I was really tired for the day and cannot dong. Lousy me.

Now on the next day’s match, my take on Zidane’s headbutting is that it is utterly pity to see someone as great a player as Zidane exiting the soccer scene in this manner. Such unglorified manner. To think it was his last match of his career and he exited like that. Just imagine he lead France to become the champion for the prestigious event and after that then he left. That would have been the best outcome seriously. There was a lot of speculations and lip-readings that suggest just what was said to provoked him. That brings me to something. You have something against someone, confront him upfront and aim him only. To drag one’s family in is actually just a fucked-up way of saying “I am a fucking ccb”.

Actually, it is quite funny in a sense when you see the headbutting. I mean, at least something like a push in retaliation would have been much less uncool then what? A headbutt? Alaric and me were laughing mad when the incident happened. Ben too. Fahizul just.. slept through. Aiya, Alaric and me anything also can laugh. Barthez oh Barthez LOl.

Eccentricity = 20

That’s the good thing watching a match with a group of friends. It can be really fun. The atmosphere we watched in is pretty good too. Total darkness with only the light from the TV plus a power air-con and a rainy night. Laughter filled the living room. I hope we didn’t disturbed Fahizul’s family.

Actually, I support Italy for if they win, that would means that I am a packet of seaweed and Pringles richer. Not forgetting I am already a kfc-meal richer. Lol. France open the game with a goal which was quite a sianded factor for me. Luckily it was quickly equalized. Actually France had a team which I thought wasn’t really that good at first and was already lucky to be able to make it into final. But while watching them play in the final game especially in the second round(prior to that, I never watch any of the French-played game), I must say, they are a quality team. I respect them for that.

Like I said, the tournament is over. 4 years shall it be for the next soccer craze.
1460 days left.

Finally the Medical Checkup is over on Friday which I went with Sylvester.

Missed my CLA test because of it and I don't know if I should be happy. No exam song lar but kinda feeling incomplete leh. I mean, you don't get the satisfaction of completing the block test with one test still untake and the fact that you will still be retaking anyway some other time. Meaning, at the end of the day, I will be the last one to complete.

Needles needles and needles. Took the pricks and blood test on the Medical Checkup. Most who know me well know I fucking hate needles. K lar, I have a fear in it.

So when my name was call for the prick, I knew I had to do it. Wouldn't have wanted any delay as it will only prolong the whole thing. LOl, turn out, not very pain leh. The blood test too. The pain is nothing at all. But what irks me is when the needle go into my skin. Not much pain sure. But no thanks anyway.

Seems like I may have a deficiency in my blood call G6PD-deficiency or something. The NS people couldn't be sure so they will mail me the result some other day. But the thing is, all along from young, I never once had any allergy. My health booklet didn't register that, neither have I had any allergy to anything. Not any that I know of. I only scare need me to go back for a second blood test -.-""

Pretty tiring morning on the checkup day since I woke up early. Went home liao just sleep. And woke up still feeling sleepy actually. But that shouldn't actually be the case because last time in secondary I also wake up that early. Older = Lazier. Lmao.

At night, Alaric asked wanna watch soccer that night. Sure thing lar, so we started asking around see who wanna meet and go his house to watch. In the end, Ck, Ww, Yy and me went his house to see. Long time since I last ton at my friends' house. Actually, we were much more interested in the match between Argentina and Germany. It turned out to be boring. Goals from both sides were pretty stringy eh. I wanted the South Americans to win too but they didn't. The host country won. Nvm lar. Watch watch see see, no need take seriously.

Me trying to do a candid shot. Opps, Ck saw it.

After the first match ended, we went down Alaric's house to a 24-hour restaurant to grab a bite. That's why if we all live same area best. Anytime of the day hungry, just call and we can meet up anywhere to eat or even just talk cock. Maybe next time when we have car, it will be possible. But for now, it's hard to meet up when some of us live different area and our "go-home-time" is dictated by the public transport.

Taxi you say? I would rather walk home.

Cheespie lar. Mai act cute leh.

Mr Michael Wong. Or is it Ah Yoke? Or Yokie?

So after the meal, we went to play soccer. Lol soccer craze. Alright, they played, I didn't. I just watch nia. I only watch and don't play. Like I always say, I cannot play for fuck. So no thanks. The field below Alaric's house is very good. Big with a lot of sports facilities. Basketball, soccer court and even a toilet lol. Though the lights were not switched on at that hour. But at this hour, there's no people there also. Quiet. Except for the few occasional cars moving past and our noise. Pretty much "our" place. lol.

Captain Lam! And sleepy Ck. .

We played until well into almost the end of the first half of the second match between Italy and Ukraine before we go back his house. Well, not interested in that match. Italy won 3-0 which isn't to anyone's surprise. But we watch nonetheless the full match.

Some of us almost buay dong liao by then. But the Winning Eleven on Alaric's comp kept those sleepy awake by taking turn playing. Again, not me, I don't really play computerised soccer as well. Lol, those playing seemed more interested in the game than the match itself. Ww after playing his turn on the comp almost wanted to lie on the bed to sleep liao. Lucky never, or else we all probably will be sleeping liao leaving out the opportunity to see sunrise.

Oh yes, we wanted at first to go down his house to some place(haven decided at that moment of time) to see see watch watch sunrise. But almost didn't make it since a few already want to sleep liao. Haha, lousy. Luckily we still went.

The distance from Alaric house to Lower Seletar Resevior isn’t exactly what you will call near. We walk for sometime, eventually thinking that we will miss the sunrise. That was what probably prompted us to jog so as to faster reach there. The air in the morning is really fresh while jogging. But surely look very stupid as I wasn't wearing any sport apparels. Great huh? Complete that with a slipper, a very slippery slipper and you get a funny-looking-guy-trying-to-jog-in-a-funny-outfit. Heng it was very early in the morning so I suppose it doesn’t matter.

Something eerie while on the way there. While walking one stretch of road into the reservoir with trees beside us, we suddenly sniff a fragrant smell from the forest. Nice smell out of nowhere suddenly?? Ok, shall stop about that here since I am typing this in a lightless room in a midnight now. LOl.

Finally reach Lower Seletar Reservior and so we began our wait. CK was burying his head in his hands trying to sleep while the rest of us were busy taking photos and crapping and singing.

On reaching Lower Seletar Reservior.

Waiting . . Ck sleeping.

Still waiting. . Ah Yoke also.

We waited for very long until light appeared in the sky and brightens it. Even after the sky totally brightens up we still see no sign of the Sun. Knn, surely we waited at the wrong place liao lar. Now to think of it since we were not exactly in the east also. Only until 7.30++ when we finally caught glimpse of the Sun hiding behind a big patch of cloud up above us. Best lar, wait so long for nothing.

Guniang lar! Still waiting. Ck already woke up liao.

Forget about it -.- Shall take photos instead.

You want the Sun? There. The small red bright dot in the middle -.-

Well not exactly nothing. We did took photos. A lot. Lol. Something we would dread to in the past. Ya, that's about it.

kns lao ku ku sia. Just now while chatting on msn with Siying and doing that just ONE example of maths, my calculator show signs of no batt. WTH sia, it has to happen just when tomorrow is my Maths' Block Test. I reckon that tmr sure no batt.

How unlucky can one go?

And so I started seeking from my friends. Lucky Kelvin has an extra battery(of unknown type) and he asked me to check what battery model my calculator is using. So I quicky checked and wahha, it actually accepts "AA" battery. For those seriously suaku one, AA. Commonly seen as the 2nd member of the battery family.

My way of seeing it.

There's one big big round like tube one - which I call the big member of battery family
Then the thin one though longer than the shorter one - I call the 2nd member of battery family
Then the shorter thin one - small member
Then a lot others smaller ones which I don't care. Unless I need them to play Digimon =X

*(I wanted to use "brother" for the word "member". Then I notice subsituting the word member for brother sounded pretty unglam. Even more so when u see how I describe them lmao. So ya, "member")

Ok, feeling enormously relieved. I intended to head to the nearest 7-11 near my house which is still some walking distance. Then an even luckier thing happen, the mama shop near my house, is still open. So I felt even more heng.

I am not so unlucky afterall.

So shall talk about post-physics, pre-maths period. Today(wednesday) no school for me because I have no test. That said, I didn't study yesterday, not even today, until around uhmm 2 hours ago? But I did some constructive stuff lar. In my view that is. I played with the dusty organ safety kept at one corner of my house and began playing with it.

I played with such grace, such skill.. Yea I lied. i just anyhow did.

But I managed to play part of the corus of Otherside with BOTH hand. my left for the bass and my right for the guitar. You know, those electric organs can imitate those sound. I felt very proud of myself. Haha.

I believe I told people before how great it would be to be able to play piano, organ or something. With that many pianos strategically positioned in my school(ok 1 only, but enough), if you have the substance, surely you can produce the "wow" effect. Haha, I am such a sucker for showing off. But I don't have the stuffs, so no use -.-

No lar, my teacher taught me to be humble. And humble I am haha.

I am beginning to crap already. Time to go for the last spur on Maths. With the help of junk food!

Post-Script: This is not the entry I thought I was intending to post during the previous entry which I said about the entry being 35% completed. It's completed, but I suppose it can wait. Sorry for using Mr Darius Oh's name hah.
